CAIRO - 5 December 2022: The Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW) is launching a media campaign to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women.

This campaign is broadcast on various radio stations, and through the council’s social media platforms, presented by Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt, and writer Nashwa Al-Hofy, a member of the council.

The campaign reviews the types and forms of violence against women through short and simplified audio messages to raise awareness of the issue, as it includes messages about (physical, sexual, institutional, economic and verbal violence, electronic crimes and domestic violence).

The campaign also highlights the psychological and legal support services provided by the Complaints Office of the National Council for Women, and its hot line 15115.

This campaign is launched in cooperation between the Council, the European Union, the United Nations Women and the United Nations Population Fund, within the framework of the 16-day global campaign of activities to eliminate violence against women.
