CAIRO – 1 December 2022: Chairman of Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council Abdelfattah El-Burhan highlighted on Thursday the distinguished relations binding Egypt with Sudan.

Egypt’s Ambassador Hany Salah, presented his credentials as ambassador of Egypt to the sister Republic of Sudan to Burhan.

Salah conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Burhan, affirming his aspiration to enhance the bilateral relations with Sudan during his tenure.

Burhan, for his part, asked for conveying his greetings to President Sisi, expressing his support to the Egyptian ambassador during his mission in Sudan.

Egypt and Sudan share strong relations in all fields, including on the political, economic, social, and cultural levels.

Egypt and Sudan have also continued to consult on regional issues of mutual concern, especially the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), which is built on the Blue Nile.

The two downstream countries have agreed on the importance of reaching a legally-binding agreement on the filling and operation of GERD but Ethiopia continued to take unilateral acts on the dam without the two countries’ consent.
