CAIRO – 26 November 2022: Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has launched an international promotional campaign to shed light on the exceptional services the country provides to attendees of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

As per the campaign, holders of the World Cup 2022 Hayya Card will get a discount of 50 percent while visiting Egyptian museums and archaeological sites during the tournament, which extends until 18 December.

Also, a number of Egyptian tourist cities will offer discounts on booking hotel rooms, a statement by the ministry said.

Egypt also offers facilitations on entry visas for the Hayya Card holders, according to the statement.

The digital Hayya Card is obligatory for anyone who is willing to enter Qatar and to have access to stadiums during the World Cup tournament.

This personalized ID includes the cardholder’s name, photo, match tickets, passport number, and QR Code.

Since a drop in tourism flow to Egypt during the coronavirus pandemic, authorities have worked on encouraging tourists to visit archaeological and coastal cities to ensure tourism recovery.

Also blew by the Russia-Ukraine crisis, tourism sector in Egypt has gained momentum over the past period with almost 5 million tourists visiting Egypt in the first half of 2022, according to the state’s statistical agency CAPMAS.

In September, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Issa announced plans to boost foreign tourist arrivals by up to 30 percent annually.
