CAIRO - 16 July 2017: Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with Vice-President of the Argentine Gabriela Michetti economic cooperation along with bilateral relations, during her official visit to Cairo on Sunday.

The visit came in celebration of the two countries 70th anniversary of strong diplomatic relations. It also came as a preparation for an upcoming visit of the Argentine President to Egypt, and a practical expression of Argentina's desire to strengthen relations with Egypt.

The meeting discussed ways to improve relations between the two countries and develop them at various levels, especially in the economic and trade fields, in the light of Argentina's assumption of the chairmanship of the G20 in 2018.

It also included discussion on continual of coordination and consultation between the two countries in the framework of international forums and organizations under the challenges facing the world that comes on its top the maintenance of international peace and security.

Shoukry expressed his desire to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in the light of Argentina's completion of the ratification process of the free trade agreement signed between Egypt and the Mercosur Group, which will open new outlets to promote Egyptian products at reasonable prices in the Latin continent.

The Egyptian and Argentine sides agreed to exchange visits of technical delegations to implement joint projects in the development fields.

The minister further reviewed steps and results of Egypt’s economic reform program, as well as efforts to achieve sustainable development, and to maximize investment opportunities in the country, led by the recently approved Investment Law.

Talks between the two sides revealed many similarities in the economic challenges that the two countries are currently facing, as well as their priorities regarding the process of community development, which will provide areas for joint cooperation.

Shoukry concluded the meeting thanking the Argentine official for giving the opportunity to Moushira Khattab, the candidate of Egypt and Africa for the post of Director of UNESCO, and for listening to its vision towards the development and strengthening the work of the Organization.
