CAIRO – 13 November 2022: A number of members of the Egyptian National Dialogue, the Coordination's Committee of Parties' Youth Leaders and Politicians (CPYP) and the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies held a special session on Saturday on climate justice and environmental issues.

The session was held in the Green Zone on the sidelines of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh city from 6 to 18 November under the theme “Together for Implementation”.

The session discussed the role that the industrial revolution played in worsening the climate change crisis over the past period, highlighting the fact that developing countries are responsible for this crisis, an official statement read.

The session also underscored the fact that developed countries have not fulfilled their pledges to provide $100 billion annually to confront the phenomenon.

In this regard, the attendees stressed the importance of supporting Egypt and developing countries so that they achieve the desired development in an environmentally friendly manner without adding further emissions that worsens the climate crisis.

They also emphasized the need for the private sector to support governments and environmentally friendly activities and to work on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
