CAIRO – 9 November 2022: In his recorded speech at COP 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinski supported President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's call to end the war in his country for its destructive impact on many states worldwide, saying he was ready to deploy all efforts needed to attain that goal.

Regarding the war's impact on climate change, Zelenski pointed out that five million feddans of forests have been obliterated in Ukraine, and added that it also led to getting back to the use of coal.

The Ukrainian president stressed that peace is a must to achieve climate goals, suggesting that billions of dollars have to be granted to developing countries to accomplish adaptation.

President Sisi had called on Monday at COP 27 for ending the Russia-Ukraine War to bring to an end the severe economic downturn developing states have been experiencing ever since it started.

The Egyptian president's call has been also supported by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who stipulated that the world needed peace.
