CAIRO - 8 November 2022: Sanaa Abdel Fattah press conference at Sharm el Sheikh, Tuesday, has been grabbing the social media activists' attention who have been wondering about the reason that makes her deny answer someone’s questions and demand him out of a press conference.

On his Facebook account, Ahmed Elkelany stated that “Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Amr Darwish addressed Sanaa with a series of questions, first off regarding involving foreign authorities to alter the judicial authority in Egypt, and the second was why should Alaa be even a recipient of a Presidential pardon, given that he is charged in criminal cases.”

He said that: “the reaction was truly an unacceptable one.” Explaining that “MP Darwish was escorted out of the conference, by the UN police and security details, denied any form of answer to his legitimate questions, and was accused by Sanaa Seif as being pushed by the Egyptian authorities to disrupt her conference.”

He commented on the incident saying that he “don't understand, what kind of a human rights and a freedom activist would basically deny someone else their freedom of speech.”

Elkelany in his Facebook post stated that Alaa Abd El Fattah “is a criminal convict, with charges of vandalism, to which he publicly gloated about. The fact that he opposes the current authorities, doesn't give him a free pass to his atrocities.”

Secondly: “Never did it happen that any of the Western Bloc countries has relieved a criminal from their own prisons because of foreign political pressure, unless it was an exchange of prisoners’ deal. I do not see why Egypt should act any different. British or not, a criminal is a criminal.”

Egyptian MP Amr Darwish was demanded out from a press conference for Sanaa Abdel Fattah in Sharm El sheikh, Tuesday after commenting on her speech regarding her brother’s Alaa Abdel Fattah situation.

In statements to ET, Amr said that “after commenting on Sanaa’s allegations, she didn’t reply, and one of the conference’s organizers came asking me out, and that she is not going to reply because the conference has ended, which was not true.”

Sanaa demands freedom of opinion, but she prevents it from others,” MP Darwish said.

Darwish who is a member of the Coordination's Committee of Party's Youth Leaders and Politicians [CPYP] added that “Sanaa was trying to turn her brother's case through her statements from a criminal prisoner to a political prisoner” and when I started to comment on her statements like another participant at the conference she denied answering, and said that she is not going to reply to ‘Egyptian authorities’.

“I was not representing any kind of authorities inside the conference”, Darwish said, explaining that “addressing the Egyptian authorities has its own channels”.

Darwish noted that, “Sharm El sheikh is currently hosting a conference to save the planet [referring to COP27], what dose has to do with her brother’s situation?!”
