Egypt expresses sincere condolences to Tanzania over Lake Victoria plane crash

CAIRO – 7 November 2022:  Egypt’s Foreign Ministry expressed, its sincere condolences to Tanzania over the victims of a plane crash in Lake Victoria during its attempt to land at Bukoba Airport in northwest Tanzania, which resulted in dozens of victims and injured.

Egypt offered its sincere condolences to the government and people of Tanzania and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, and affirming its support for Tanzania in this painful accident.

A Tanzanian commercial flight crash-landed in bad weather in Lake Victoria on Sunday, killing 19 people. The country’s Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, said officials believe all bodies have been recovered from the airplane.

The airline confirmed the death toll and amended the number of survivors down to 24 in an updated statement on Sunday evening. Earlier, the carrier as well as local officials had said that 26 of the 43 people on board had been rescued.
