CAIRO – 5 November 2022: Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan said Egypt as the President of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) has a chance to unify developed and developing countries to serve joint interests and create a more proper atmosphere for addressing key climate challenges.

In statements to MENA on Saturday, Khachaturyan said the conference represents a chance for the whole world to assess the climate change impacts over the past years.

The conference represents a platform for encouraging finance to move to green economy and adapt to climate change, he said.

He underlined the importance of the conference as it offers an opportunity to realize progress in financing climate action.

He urged the international community to rally efforts in the face of negative impacts of climate change which affected large geographical areas as well as civilians.

He noted that climate adaptation measures are vital for Armenia's capacity to realize the social and economic development goals.

The Armenian government will announce its priority climate action at the end of COP27 which will focus on cutting greenhouse emissions by 40 percent by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, he said.

He stressed confidence that the Egyptian-Armenian relations will be given momentum in various cooperation domains in the coming few years.

The joint trade exchange witnessed a five-fold rise over the first eight months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021
