He said on Saturday that such a step has been taken under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to maximize efforts towards green economy transition in coincidence with hosting the United Nations climate change conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh.

Accoridng to Maeet, 5 new governorates, namely Ismailia, Sharqia, Behaira, Beni Suef and Sohag, have become covered by the initiative.

Maeet went on explaining that this move aims to enable citizens to have modern cars that are environment-friendly with low costs, through offering big credit facilitation under the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030, the minister said.

He added that the state has borne more than EGP 590 million as green incentive to help over 24,000 citizens join the initiative so far.
