'Black sand project among most important promising mining projects' NSPO director general says

Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Walid Hussein asserted on Wednesday that the project of extracting economic minerals from the black sand is one of the new promising mining projects that was re-discovered.

Hussein's remarks came during the inauguration of the plants complex of black sand in Burullus city in Kafr el Sheikh governorate.

The project is an added value in the field of mining industries to contribute to increasing the rates of economic growth related to the tendency of state supporting the investment in the industrial sector in light of the economic and political challenges taking place in the world, Hussein said.

It is planned to dig out 76 million tons of economic minerals according to the feasibility study conducted by the Nuclear Materials Authority, he said.

Egypt has one of the biggest reserves of black sand around the world concentrated in Beheira, Kafr el Sheikh, Damietta, Port Said, North Sinai, Red Sea and Aswan, Hussein said.

This huge project comprises several units and separation and concentration factories including floating Primary Concentration Plant (PCP) in Burullus which includes Tahya Misr dredger which is the first eco-friendly dredger in the world and works with electricity, he said.

Pushing forward the production wheel with the rate that achieves improvement in living condition is linked to what is achieved in the sector of industry, he added.

The NSPO is conducting several huge developmental projects, he said, adding that it works around-the-clock to meet the aspirations of the Egyptians.
