6 green projects Egypt implements aiming to up sustainable projects by 50% in 2024

CAIRO - 3 October 2022: There are a number of giant projects implemented by the New and Renewable Energy Authority at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to reduce emissions in Egypt.
 
There is a list of environmental sustainability criteria for projects that was issued, which means implementing more sustainable projects so that 50% of new projects will be green by 2024 and 100% by 2030.
 
 
In the below lines, Egypt Today recounts 6 green projects that acheive enivronmental sustainability:
 
1- The national program for converting street lighting to LED energy-saving lighting systems.
 
2- The Gulf of Al-Zayt project to generate electricity from wind energy with a capacity of 220 megawatts.
 
3- The new High Dam project by constructing a solar energy complex in Benban near Aswan.
 
4- The Egypt PV project, which is a project to develop small scale decentralized photovoltaic systems connected to the grid.
 
5- Solar powered surface water pumping stations for irrigation in the governorates.
 
6- Biogas units project, the first pilot project for converting waste into electricity.
