CAIRO – 1 October 2022: Egypt’s Consul General in Port Sudan Sameh Farouk Shehata on Saturday handed over the third shipment of medical and pharmaceutical supplies for treating kidney disease in eastern Sudan.

The shipment was provided by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), an affiliate of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The medical supplies were directed to the Egyptian health services division at the dialysis center in Port Sudan, the capital city of the Sudanese Red Sea state.

Meanwhile, a host of Sudanese officials extended thanks to Egypt and its leadership for their efforts in supporting the Sudanese people.

The aid reaffirms the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Sudan, they said.

Egypt has been keen to support the health sector in many African countries, including in Sudan.

In June, Egypt’s Consul in Port Sudan Farouk Shahata followed up on the installation of the dialysis machines provided by Egypt to the Sudanese-Egyptian section of the dialysis center in the eastern Sudanese city.

The EAPD dispatched a technical expert who already completed the installation and maintenance work of the dialysis machines at the Port Sudan center.

This is in addition to conducting a training session for Sudanese technicians on the repair and maintenance of the dialysis machines.

The Egyptian and Sudanese sides have agreed on expanding the dialysis center within the framework of enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Sudan in the medical field.

Consul General also discussed with the director of the planning department at the Sudanese ministry of health in the Red Sea state opportunities to enhance joint cooperation in the field of health during the coming period.

The Sudanese official praised the existing cooperation in the health sector between the two sides within the framework of the established historical relations and ties between Egypt and Sudan.

MENA contributed to the reporting.
