Egypt launches 1st insurance system for foreigners at fair price, high quality

CAIRO - 19 September 2022: Engineer Hossam Sadek, Executive Director of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, revealed that the first insurance system for foreigners residing in Egypt was established within the comprehensive health insurance system.

 

Engineer Hossam Sadiq, Executive Director of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, confirmed that foreigners residing in Egypt can obtain medical service at a fair price and with the highest level of quality by contracting with the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority.

 

He stressed that the system currently allows this without any obstacles.

 

Engineer Hossam Sadiq, Executive Director of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance, explained that the authority bears the burden of the costs of treating any disease from the birth of the citizen until his death.

 

The Executive Director of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance added, the citizen gets the health insurance service in return for a specified monthly subscription in accordance with the law, and the patient does not bear any financial burdens other than the contribution stipulated in the law.

 

He pointed out that patients who are financially unable are exempted from paying the value of the contributions, and the public treasury bears the value of their contributions, as well as those with chronic diseases and tumors, all in accordance with a decision issued by the Prime Minister regulating the exemption controls. 

 

He continued, "we aim to detect fraud, waste and abuse to ensure that the service reaches its beneficiaries at the appropriate price, and to ensure the application of approved and recognized medical protocols and rules," pointing to the coverage of psychological diseases, organ transplantation, dialysis and all chronic diseases.

 

He said, the patient has complete freedom to choose the appropriate service provider to complete the treatment after visiting the primary care doctor, noting that the patient's history is known to the beneficiary by recording and analyzing data.
