CAIRO – 13 September 2022: The 52nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information in Egypt will discuss a number of important topics, including the Palestinian cause, said Karam Gabr, the new head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR).

The meeting will discuss the Arab media strategy, the Arab committee for digital media, the Arab media role in countering the phenomenon of terrorism, the Arab media map for sustainable development, and other vital issues, Gabr said, according to a Cabinet statement.

Egypt, represented in the SCMR, will receive the presidency of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information from Sudan to chair its 52nd session.

During this month, Egypt will also host the 15th ordinary session of the executive office of the council and the 97th ordinary session of the permanent committee of Arab media, the statement noted.

Gabr said the meetings of the council will witness intense participation from the Arab countries with the participation of 13 ministers and senior officials of Arab media organizations.

This is in addition to the participation of a number of organizations and unions practicing media, including the Federation of Arab Journalists, the Arab Commission for Satellite Broadcasting, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the Egyptian satellite company Nilesat, and many other organizations and unions, Gabr noted.

A delegation from Arab media agencies will also attend the meeting, the SCMR chief added.

Planned discussions on the Palestinian cause come a month after Egypt contributed to brokering a ceasefire in Gaza after few days of Israeli assault killed more than 40 Palestinians, including children.

The meeting also comes ahead of the upcoming Arab summit on November 1 in Algeria’s Algiers with the Palestinian cause high on agenda.
