Egypt’s Minister of Interior receives Singaporean Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean

CAIRO – 12 September 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Interior, Mahmoud Tawfiq, received on Monday Singaporean Senior Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Chairman for the inter-ministerial committee on Climate Change Teo Chee Hean along with the delegation accompanying him during his official visit to Egypt.

 During the meeting, a number of security issues of common interest were reviewed. At the beginning of the meeting, the guest minister expressed his great happiness for visiting Cairo, which comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two sides.

The Singaporean Senior Minister praised the stable security situation that Egypt is currently witnessing thanks to the continuous security efforts of the Egyptian police.

He affirmed his aspiration to strengthen and develop mechanisms of cooperation and levels of coordination with the ministry, and to activate channels for exchanging information related to combating terrorism, to benefit from the distinguished security expertise of the Ministry of Interior in this field.

For his part, Minister Tawfiq, welcomed the visit of the Singaporean minister and his companions to Cairo, pointing to the depth of friendship that binds the governments and peoples of the two countries.

He also affirmed his keenness to raise the levels of security cooperation and exchange of information in the fields of combating terrorism and organized and electronic crimes of all kinds.

Earlier on Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry with  Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on twitter: “Shoukry received Singaporean Senior Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security & Chairman for the inter-ministerial committee on Climate Change…Discussions focused on COP27 success factors, identifying priorities, access to finance & technology.”
