CAIRO- 8 September 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi voiced his sincere condolences in the name of Egypt and its people to the royal family, the British government and people over the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch of Britain, at the age of 96.

Posting on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Sisi said "I offer my sincere condolences, in my name and on behalf of the Egyptian people, to the royal family, the UK government and people on the death of Queen Elizabeth II that ruled her country for long decades with complete wisdom."

"I assert my resolve to work with King Charles III to enhance the relations of the two friendly countries and peoples" Sisi said.

"My condolences to the British nation in such great loss, and I am fully confident over King Charles's ability to fill in the vacuum left by the Queen's passing".

Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch and the nation's figurehead for seven decades, died at her home in Scotland aged 96 on Thursday.

"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," Buckingham Palace said in a statement. "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

Elizabeth's eldest son Charles, 73, automatically becomes king of the United Kingdom and the head of state of 14 other realms including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. His wife Camilla becomes Queen Consort. News that the queen's health was deteriorating emerged shortly after midday on Thursday when her doctors said she was under medical supervision, prompting her family to rush to be by her side at her Scottish home, Balmoral.
