CAIRO – 6 September 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, on his victory in the presidential elections.

Sisi wished the new president success in leading Kenya and its brotherly people towards a bright future and further progress and prosperity.

Sisi also affirmed Egypt's keenness to continue strengthening brotherly ties with Kenya and continuing coordination between the two brotherly countries on all regional files of common interest.

Earlier this week, Kenya's Supreme Court ruled that Ruto is the president as per the results of the election on 9 August.

Ruto secured a narrow victory against his rival, Raila Odinga, garnering 50.5 percent of the vote against 48.8% for Odinga, according to the announced results.

Ruto, a 55-year-old veteran politician, will be sworn in as Kenya’s fifth president next week, according to Kenyan reports.
