WASHINGTON, Aug 30 (MENA) - The US urged the parties concerned in Iraq to remain calm, and resolve their political differences through a peaceful process.

Washington is aware about the escalating situation in Iraq, said Deputy Spokesperson at the US State Department Vidant Patel, according to Alhurra News channel.

Vidant, meanwhile, urged the supporters of leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al Sadr to respect the State's properties.

After the announcement of leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al Sadr to withdraw from political life, hundreds of his angry followers to storm the government palace.

The Iraqi army has announced a Baghdad-wide curfew to start from 3:30 pm (1230 GMT) on Monday.

“A full curfew in the capital Baghdad affects all vehicles and citizens,” the Joint Operations Command said in a statement.

Iraq’s Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi also decided to suspend cabinet sessions until further notice.

Iraq is witnessing an escalating confrontation between supporters of al Sadr and their opponents the Coordination Framework Alliance.
