CAIRO – 29 August 2022: The past period has seen numerous fires breaking out in vital institutions in Egypt due to electric faults, which can result from bad connections, as well as air conditioner fires.

In order to prevent these fires, the Egyptian civil protection department has issued some tips, including ensuring that electric connections of the air conditioners are in a good condition.

The civil protection also advices citizens to not keep the air conditioner running for long hours and to maintain their air conditioners before running them.

The civil protection also suggests cleaning air conditioners with potassium and sodium to kill microbes and not running air conditioners under 24-25 degrees Celsius.

Earlier this month, two people were injured after a fire broke out in Carrefour branch in northern Egypt’s Alexandria. The Ministry of Interior said the fire started at an air conditioner on the roof of the mall.

In mid-August, Egypt’s Public Prosecution said its investigations concluded that a tragic fire that broke out in Abu Sefein church in Giza governorate was caused by a fault in the connections of a power generator inside the church building.

The prosecution affirmed that no one has intentionally caused the fire, adding that it would close its probe into the incident as police investigations do not blame anyone for the bad state of the generator connections.

The massive tragic fire broke out in the church in Imbaba neighborhood, killing 41 people and injuring others. The heartbreaking incident on Sunday has left the nation in a state of grief with the country receiving international condolences from across the world over the past day.
