CAIRO - 26 August 2022: The financial statement for the new fiscal year 2022/2023 submitted by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Muhammad Maait, to the House of Representatives, headed by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali, affirmed the keenness to develop frameworks of transparency, financial disclosure and community communication.

The frameworks of transparency and community participation are based on main axes, namely increasing disclosure and transparency, promoting and developing community participation, developing mechanisms for communication and community oversight, and building successful partnerships with relevant institutions locally and internationally.

The Ministry of Finance - the Transparency and Community Participation Unit - also aims to create a link between The decision maker and service recipient, the development of participatory budget tools in a number of governorates, and the inclusion and involvement of citizens, especially youth, women and children. That's to develop and improve government performance, and achieve optimal utilization of human resources and public spending.

The financial statement shed light on the efforts made in this regard, including the initiative of the ambassadors of the Ministry of Finance, which aims to create informal channels of communication between university students and the Ministry of Finance through the axes (transparency - participation - accountability - communication), to involve young people in the social and economic affairs of the state.

This is implemented through the selection of 10 students representing each university to be “ambassadors of the Ministry of Finance” in following up on the activities and initiatives implemented by the ministry.

The "ambassadors of the Ministry of Finance" will be participating in periodic visits concerned with implementing the participatory budget, to view the state's national projects, besides holding periodic meetings with decision-makers, including governors and deputy governors.

This move aims to involve young people in the government work wheel and the state's vision in development and decision-making.

The financial statement also refers to organizing a "Day in the Life of a Governor" event for young people periodically, to involve them in Egypt's Vision 2030, and to raise their awareness of how decisions are made in public administrations at the local level.
