Photos: Egyptian president, Arab leaders tour Alamein city and discuss enhancing cooperation

CAIRO – 23 August 2022: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi along with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, and Iraq made a tour on Monday in Al-Alamein city as well as Regal Heights resort and its tourist facilities.

Earlier on Monday, Sisi, accompanied by UAE's President Mohamed bin Zayed, received at Al-Alamein Airport King Abdullah II of Jordan, King Hamad bin Isa of Bahrain, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said in a statement.

Sisi welcomed the five leaders in a special brotherly meeting and voiced the Egyptian leadership and people’s appreciation of the firm historic relations binding Egypt with the Arab countries, the spokesman said.

The meeting saw the leaders discussing enhancing their various bilateral relations and making optimal use of all the available fields among them to enhance their cooperation, the spokesman added.

In March, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the UAE held a summit in Jordan’s Aqaba, during which they discussed ways to enhance relations of joint cooperation between the four countries in all fields, especially trade and economy.

During the summit, they discussed the overall political and economic situation at the regional and international levels, especially with regard to facing the repercussions of global crisis on the sectors of food security, energy and trade.

On Sunday, President Sisi received Bin Zayed at Alamein Airport, where they exchanged views on international issues, regional security, and the current circumstances in the Arab World.

The two leaders agreed to reinforce Arab joint work and unity in the face of challenges faced by the Arab region with the aim of crystallizing permanent solutions to regional crises, which would strengthen the pillars of security, stability, and peace.

Sisi and Bin Zayed equally conferred over bilateral cooperation and the promising opportunities of partnerships in the economic and developmental realms between the two countries.

The two leaders affirmed the necessity to resort to dialogue, understanding and diplomatic means to settle disputes and crises via peaceful means that preserve international peace and security, according to the Emirati news agency WAM.

They also voiced their support to all efforts aimed at reaching a permanent solution to regional crises in a way that contributes to consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the countries of the region and achieving prosperity and peace for their peoples.
