CAIRO – 25 July 2022: Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki told press Sunday that science and mathematics will be taught in the English language starting Grade 7 at public schools in a few years within the introduction of the new system.

Shawky said that the initial steps of developing education were by establishing the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) which is the biggest electronic library in the world and making it available for the citizens for free.

The minister reviewed the plan of developing the Egyptian education starting from the authorization of the president to launch the new educational system and change the educational system from education to learning.

As many as 2,500 electronic schools where prepared to fit in the new system, he said.

Shawky asserted that the Ministry of Education implements a different plan to put the framework of the curricula via cooperating with several countries developed in education including the US, Finland and Singapore.

In another context, The Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced Thursday that three new Egyptian-Japanese schools would begin operation in academic year 2022/2023, making the total 51 distributed among 26 governorates.

The new schools are located in Port Said's Port Fouad neighborhood, Eastern Cairo's Mostakbal City, and Marsa Matrouh. The application is open for KG1, KG2, and Grade 1.

Those schools teach the new Egyptian curriculum dubbed "2.0", and Japan's Tokkatsu system, which is activities that focus on the development of the children's non-cognitive skills.

That is by developing their autonomous abilities, social and independent attitudes, and establishing human relationships that form the basis for academic achievement. Tokkatsu in Egypt is implemented through a bunch of activities such as the Classroom Discussion, Class Instruction, Daily Coordinator, Cleaning, and others similar to what is applied in the schools in Japan.
