CAIRO – 21 July 2022: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Cairo on Sunday, where he will meet with a number of Egyptian officials, Al-Sharq Bloomberg reported anonymous sources.

Lavrov will also meet with Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, as well as representatives of the member states of the league, the sources added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that Lavrov will make an African tour that includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda and the Republic of the Congo, from July 24 to 28.

Lavrov’s visit comes a week after US President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel and Jeddah, where he said that the US will not let the vacuum in the Middle East be filled by Russia, China, or Iran.
