Video: Serbian fighters escort President Sisi's plane in Belgrade’s airspace

CAIRO – 19 July 2022: Serbian fighters were seen escorting President Abdel Fattah al Sisi plane as soon as it entered the country’s airspace on Tuesday.

President Aleksandar Vucic welcomed his Egyptian counterpart at Belgrade Airport.

Sisi is set to hold intensive talks with Serbia's president in addition to the country's parliament speaker, during which they will discuss means of bolstering political and economic relations between both countries.

The talks will also touch on ways to maintain joint coordination at the regional and international levels.

The Egyptian leader is scheduled to deliver a speech at the University of Belgrade on relations between the two friendly countries, as well as on Egypt’s policy towards the most important regional and international issues.

 

Sisi concluded his visit to Berlin and head to Serbia in a visit, which is first of its kind, within the framework of the historical relations between the two countries, Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady Said.

Egyptian Ambassador to Serbia Bassel Salah said Sisi’s visit to Belgrade is the first by an Egyptian president in 35 years.

In press remarks, Salah said the Serbian side attaches great and special importance to Sisi’s visit as it represents a launch for growing cooperation between the two countries in all fields during the coming period.

Sisi’s visit will also include holding a forum for businessmen in Egypt and Serbia with the attendance of a large number of investors from both sides to discuss boosting trade between the two countries and implementing joint projects, Salah added.

In Belin, Sisi participated in the Petersburg Climate Dialogue, which comes ahead of the international climate conference (COP27) set to be held in Egypt in November, and meeting with top German officials.

Sisi also participated in a roundtable meeting with representatives of the German business community and heads of giant German industrial companies.

During the roundtable meeting, Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness during the coming period to continue developing economic and commercial relations with the German companies and business community.
