CAIRO – 16 July 2022: About 160,420 citizens received several medical treatment services through the National Diabetes and Endocrinology Institute, announced the Health and Population Ministry.

The medical services were offered to the citizens from January 2022 until June 30, 2022, it added.

Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, meanwhile, announced the provision of detection and treatment services to 100,000 citizens through the outpatient clinics.

Egypt is implementing a green recovery plan to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Kamali told a session of the high-level political forum on sustainable development 2022 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The deputy minister said that countries need more spending to try to catch up after several setbacks suffered by different states, especially under a set of challenges, including limited fiscal space, high cost of loans due to tight monetary policy, and the difficulty of mobilising private investments.

In the short term, more social protection policies and programs can be proposed. In the long term, equal opportunities must be ensured, while providing high-quality health and educational services and paying special attention to vulnerable groups, by using information technology and digital transformation effectively, he added.

The Egyptian state has increased green projects in the investment plan for 2020/2021 to 15%, and 30% in the 2021/2022 fiscal year, Kamali revealed.

Egypt targets the percentage to reach 50% in 2024/2025, he added.
