Egypt’s PM follows Universal Health Insurance project updates

CAIRO – 25 May 2022:  Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Wednesday a meeting to follow up on the status of the universal health insurance project.

The meeting was attended by Higher Education Minister and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait and Communications Minister Amr Talaat along with head of the national social insurance authority Gamal Awad in addition to Port Said Governor Adel el Ghadban who participated in the meeting via video-conferencing.

Madbouli said the Egyptian State is keen to go ahead with implementing the universal health insurance project and ensure that all citizens are covered under its umbrella in the coming years despite the international economic global challenges facing the country.

The meeting touched on a number of parameters related to the universal health insurance system in addition to the status of the applications of the digitization system, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.

A number of challenges facing the implementation of the system was also tackled during the meeting.

The meeting also tackled Egypt 2030 Vision in terms of the manpower in the health sector and advantages offered by the universal health insurance system as well as the positive fruits of its application in Port Said governorate.
