CAIRO – 17 May 2022: Head of October Gardens Municipal Authority Mohamed Mostafa told Al Watan newspaper that the alternative-housing project at the city has received until present 1,066 families who used to dwell slums in Nazlet Al Seman.

The official pointed out that more families will arrive as the number of residential units built for that purpose, within the first phase alone, is 2,500. Mostafa clarified that alternative housing in the city is allocated to families who are moved from Giza slums, and that the units are delivered finished and fully-furnished.

The total surface area of alternative housing in October Gardens City spans over 60 feddans (one feddan equals 4,500 square meters). The neighborhood has five entrances, and lies between Fayoum Road and Wahat Road.

As for the other types of housing in the city, the head of the municipal authority stated that there are 5,000 residential units built for middle-income citizens.

Giza Municipal Authority announced in February moving 80 families from Ezbet Harb and 1,000 families from Sen Al Agouz, both are slums, to fully-furnished alternative housing units in October Gardens neighborhood.

Further, work is underway to move 84 families, the fourth batch, from Sudan Huts to the same suburban neighborhood.
