CAIRO – 10 May 2022: The Egyptian Health Ministry closed a private eye hospital Tuesday after the death of a young lady who undergone an x ray dye on her eyes without allergy test in prior. 

 

An urgent investigation started into the incident, after medical negligence is believed to be the reason behind the death. The Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced the closure decision during a parliamentary session, where he was summoned to.

 

Marina Salah, 27 years old, went to a private eye hospital in Cairo a few days ago as she had severe redness. The doctor asked her to undergo x-ray dye on her eyes, but she shortly called out her husband to help her after the she felt medical complications.

 

“I am going to die,” she told her husband, according to his narration after the incident. The situation worsened as the complications happened quickly.

 

Marina had difficulty in breathing, and remained on ventilators, but her heart stopped, and then she was taken to another hospital, to be registered into an intensive care.

 

Marina had not undergone an allergy test before the rays, which cause her death eventually after several attempts to rescue her.

 

A police report about the incident was filed at Nozha police station in Cairo, said Lawyer of Marina’s family Farid Galal. He ensured that the Ministry of Health is investigating the incident.

 

Marina’s body was buried in her home village in Minya governorate, Upper Egypt.
