CAIRO – 13 July 2017: An American delegation from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) praised on Thursday the security measures practiced at Cairo International airport, according to informed sources in the airport.

The delegation started a two-day inspection tour of the airport on Wednesday to review procedures for the registration of passengers, luggage inspection and security procedures; and passenger inspection procedures, the sources added.

Following their tour, the TSA delegation hailed the procedures applied by Cairo Airport to secure passengers, luggage and packages, with intense focus on EgyptAir flights heading to New York.

The delegation includes two aviation experts, sources told Egypt Today.

By the end of the tour, the delegation met with a number of senior Egyptian civil aviation officials responsible for security measures at airports.

Earlier in April, a similar TSA delegation checked the airport’s security regulations and the new instructions announced then by the U.S. government regarding carrying electronic devices onboard. No comments were made to the Egyptian officials regarding the security regulations then, according to ONA.

On Tuesday, EgyptAir issued a statement saying that the U.S. ban on carrying electronic devices onboard planes was lifted. The ban now is mainly on EgyptAir flights to London.

EgyptAir had been given until March 24 to apply the regulations to passengers traveling to the U.S. and the UK.
