Egypt’s Public Prosecution detains 3 defendants in the case of harassing 2 girls in Haram

CAIRO – 9 May 2022: Egypt’s Public Prosecution ordered the detention of three defendants, along with keeping ten others in an observation house pending investigation regarding the accusations attributed to them in the case of abusing two girls in Haram area.

According to a Monday statement, all defendants’ ages ranged between thirteen and fifteen years old.

The Monitoring and Analysis Unit of the Public Prosecution Office had monitored the circulation of a a short video on social media, showing two foreign girls trying to escape from boys who were being harassing them in the pyramids area, so the Public Prosecution began investigations and confirmed that the incident took place.

The thirteen defendants were summoned by the prosecution and confessed with their participation in the abuse.

The footage was taken by the tourist guide who was with the two girls to record the abuse.
