CAIRO – 6 May 2022:  International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat said the world's endeavors to achieve sustainable development by 2030 are not separated from hopes to enhance climate action, turn into a green economy and reduce emissions.

Meeting senior UN officials in Washington, Mashat discussed the importance of enhancing the private sector's role in implementing projects for climate change adaptation and mitigation and assisting governments to achieve development plans, according to a press release by the International Cooperation Ministry.

The international cooperation minister reviewed the government's strategy for shifting to a green economy and increasing reliance on clean and renewable energy sources, citing the launching of the 2035 Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy and the 2050 National Climate Change Strategy.

Mashat referred to the great importance of the UN COP27 to continue the efforts of the international community in the field of climate action and highlight Africa's ambitious plans for transition towards a green economy, noting the ongoing discussions between multilateral and bilateral development partners and governments.
