CAIRO – 14 April 2022: President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed his country’s keenness to enhance joint work with Egypt based on the existing mechanisms, on top of which the joint governmental committee.

This is in addition to the Vietnamese keenness to enhance periodic political coordination with Egypt as well as cooperation in the fields of education and training through the Egyptian grants to the Vietnamese students to study the Arabic language, a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry cited Phuc as saying.

The Vietnamese president made the remarks during a meeting with Amal Abdel Kader, the new Egyptian ambassador who presented her credentials to Phuc.

During the meeting, Phuc affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to also provide preferential conditions to attract Egyptian investments to Vietnam to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Phuc voiced his confidence in the continuous friendship and relations between the two countries on the official and popular levels, praising the ongoing coordination between Egypt and Vietnam in the regional and international forums.

The meeting tackled means of boosting bilateral relations between Egypt and Vietnam on the political, economic, and commercial levels especially through exchanging high-level visits.

This is in addition to reviewing the possibility of the operation of a direct flight line between them, which should contribute to boosting tourism rates between the two countries that host many unique tourist attractions.

Abdel Kader conveyed to the Vietnamese president the greetings of his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, stressing Egypt's pride in the friendship that it has with Vietnam.

She also affirmed her aspiration to cooperate with Vietnamese officials to continue strengthening the distinguished relations between the two countries in the various political, economic and cultural fields.

Trade exchange between Egypt and Vietnam amounted to $491 million in 2019, according to the Vietnamese embassy.

The Vietnamese exports to the Egyptian market worth $458 million, while the value of his country's imports from Egypt reached $33 million.

These numbers are still at a modest level and below both countries capabilities, and that there are many reasons that must be considered in this regard, the embassy said.

The economic and trade cooperation between the two countries witnessed an advanced step forward and achieved encouraging results following the visit of President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi to Vietnam in 2017 and the late Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang to Egypt in August 2018, which gave a strong impetus to strengthening our cooperation in all fields later, the embassy added.
