She made the remarks during her meeting on Tuesday with members of the Alexandria Business Association (ABA) to ascertain private sector companies' readiness to reduce carbon emissions by 2025.

Egypt is set to host the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in November.


Minister Saeed added that Egypt launched initiatives for green transformation, noting that green projects acquired 30 percent of the State's investment plan in 2021, with a focus on increasing the proportion of eco-friendly projects to reach 38 percent-40 percent in 2022 and 50 percent in 2024.

Those projects cover different vital sectors including: transportation, new and renewable energy, green hydrogen and water desalination, the planning minister said.

Saeed also ensured that the private sector is playing an important role in the presidential initiative "Haya Karima", which is seen as the world's largest development project.
