CAIRO – 3 April 2022: The Suez Canal Authority launched a mobile application titled “SC Crossings” as part of the digital transformation plan within the authority's development strategy for the year 2023, said SCA Spokesperson George Safwat in a statement on Sunday.

The new application aims to facilitate movement for the citizens and domestic shipping between the two banks of the canal in the three governorates of Port Said, Ismailia and Suez, he added.

The new app includes a comprehensive database that is being updated around the clock for operating the transit axes, which includes 6 giant tunnels that pass under the canal with two tunnels in each of the three governorates, 5 floating bridges and 9 main ferry points along the canal.

The application has an English version that is characterized by a simple design and an easy-to-use interface, he said.

The application can be downloaded from the Google Play store for Android phones at the following link:   https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sca.crossings

It also can be downloaded through the “App Store” for IOS phones on the following link:

Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on 23 February 2022 that the state is racing against time to shift to the digital economy, in a way that contributes to facilitating the business community and stimulating investment.

Maait elaborated that: “We [ the government] aim to complete all projects to develop and automate the tax and customs systems, by the end of next June.”

Also, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior deployed a number of mobile traffic units on streets to issue licenses for citizens in a bid to reduce congestion and remove burden off citizens.

As of February 20th, the mobile traffic units were deployed in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Aswan and Matrouh governorates throughout the week, starting from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day.

The units provide the service electronically without the need of documents, and with the use of electronic payment.
