CAIRO – 31 March 2022: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Thursday an Eni delegation led by CEO Claudio Descalizi in the presence of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Mulla.

The president valued the existing partnership with Eni, and the many activities it is undertaking in Egypt while implementing the highest international standards. The chief of state equally expressed aspiration that the company continues its work in surveying, exploration, and drilling so as Egypt would optimally benefit from its energy resources.

President Sisi simultaneously directed the minister to intensively cooperate with the company and eliminate any hindrances facing its work.

On his side, Eni's CEO said that Egypt is one of the most significant markets the company is operating in, particularly in light of the government's care to the energy sector. Descalizi displayed the developments of the multiple projects implemented by Eni in Egypt in collaboration with Egyptian companies and governmental agencies.

That is especially in the sector of natural gas production, and the export of liquefied natural gas capitalizing on Edku and Damietta liquefaction plants, which currently operate at full capacity. The CEO noted that Egypt has achieved a remarkable mutation and a vital status in the realm of liquefied gas in the Mediterranean, in the framework of Egypt's vision to become a regional energy hub.

The CEO also displayed the company's contribution to the new and renewable energy sector, precisely in the field of green hydrogen production, in light of Egypt's hosting of COP 27 in Sharm El Sheikh next November.
