Enlarged security campaign kicks off in Sinai to eliminate narcotic crops

CAIRO – 28 March 2022: Egyptian border guards launched an enlarged security campaign in Sinai to search and eliminate narcotic crops and substances.

Launched at the mountainous areas of South Sinai, this campaign was carried out in cooperation between the Armed Forces and Interior Ministry.

It comes in continuation of the armed forces to confront the spread of narcotic crops, confront smugglers, criminal and subversive elements, and tighten the screws on farmers and promoters of these poisons in the mountainous areas of South Sinai.

The campaign resulted in several successful strikes, including:

(54) tons of dry narcotic plant, (280) kg of narcotic seeds, (245) kg of poppy seeds, (114) tons of narcotic powder, (17) tons of dry hydro, (401) kilograms of cannabis powder, (481) hashish spreads, (306) kilograms of chopped hashish, (50) kilograms of narcotic hydra seeds, (10) cannabis plant and its contents and (2) presses Hashish and (29) bottles of the narcotic substance, a Kalashnikov machine gun, an automatic rifle, and (1800) ammunition of various calibres were found
