CAIRO – 18 March 2022: Egyptian-American surgeon Kareem Abu-Elmagd told Egypt Today on Friday that he is following the case of Mostafa Walid, a young Egyptian who has traveled to the U.S. at the expense of the Egyptian government for a digestive system surgery.

Abu-Elmagd said Walid will undergo a digestive system transplant in Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The pioneering surgeon is in Egypt but will go to the U.S. next week and decide on the date of Walid’s operation.

Walid’s mother, Zainab Mohab, resorted to social media to plead for donations for her son, who is in a critical condition. Some L.E. 29 million were collected, and Walid went to Ohio on Wednesday.
