CAIRO – 9 March 2022: Head of the Nature Protection Sector at the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Mohamed Salem, confirmed that there is an increase in the revenues of nature reserves in Egypt from 20 million pounds to 150 million pounds per year.

Dr. Salem explained that there are 30 nature reserves in Egypt, the benefit of which has been maximized.

Salem added that the ministry's strategic plan seeks to increase these returns, as it is a very important sector and generates tens of billions for the state.

Salem said that each reserve in Egypt has a different nature in terms of biological and ecological diversity, adding that Egypt’s reserves are unique, for example, the Petrified Forest Reserve in New Cairo, its scientific value is very important, as it was formed by a scientific event that led to the annihilation of all living creatures 30 million years ago, before the existence of man on earth, and it is a witness to human history.
