CAIRO - 8 March 2022: Libya's High Council of State announced on Monday the formation of a committee for consultations with the country's House of Representatives on laying out a constitutional base for the coming elections.

A statement issued by the council on its Facebook account said the emergency session held last night by the council in Tripoli adopted a mechanism for choosing the committee members that will be elected in the coming session.

The council categorically rejected the closure of the the constitutional circuit at the supreme court describing the closure is a denial of justice.

The formation of the committee came following a letter by UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams on Friday to the House of Representatives on the importance of forming the 12-member committee which is made of six members of the House of Representatives and 6 others from the council.
