CAIRO - 7 March 2022: The Egyptian Ministry of Environment launched a competition for people aged between 12 and 40, where contestants win a bike if they can answer a climate change-related question, in a bid to increase the public awareness of climate change impact nationwide.

Under the slogan “Our Health is Part of the Planet's Health,” the monthly competition comes as part of the presidential initiative Live Green launched in cooperation with SANOFI Egypt, which affiliates with the Paris-based global healthcare company SANOFI.

"The competition includes a set of questions related to the protection and development of the environment and diseases resulting from air pollution, especially allergic diseases," said Mohamed Mostafa, the head of the planning, training, and awareness section at the Ministry of Environment in an interview with Egypt Today on Sunday.

Mostafa added that Telfast, one of the products of Sanofi Egypt, offers 2,000 bikes to the competition winners to increase the youth’s awareness of the importance of green transportation, especially ahead of the COP 27 conference.

The contestants shall register their data on the official website of the ministry with their ID numbers to achieve the principle of transparency. The winners will be selected electronically.

An advertisement campaign has been launched in several media outlets, social media platforms and at schools to promote the competition nationwide, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Moustafa stated that the competition also targets people living in remote areas all over the country.
