Egyptian nationals stranded in Ukraine can head for Slovakian border: embassy in Kyiv

CAIRO- 26 February 2022: Egyptian nationals, who are stranded in Ukraine due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian military escalation, can head for the Slovakian border as they can enter Slovenia without a visa, announced the Egyptian embassy in Kyiv said in a statement.
 
The embassy asked the nationals to send a soft copy of their passports to the emergency number of the embassy in Bratislava so that entry can be facilitated.
 
It also said that the Ukrainian authorities imposed a curfew starting at 5:00 pm to 8:00 am until February 28, calling upon the Egyptian citizens to abide by this rule.
 
The embassy yesterday announced that it was contacting the Romanian and Polish authorities to provide a safe exit for the Egyptian nationals from Ukraine, according to a series of statements issued by the embassy’s Facebook page on Friday.
 
The embassy called upon the Egyptian citizens who are in Ukraine’s Kharkiv and eastern cities to stay at homes or take shelters, as a safe path for their exit is negotiated.
 
As for the citizens in the western cities and have the ability to go to the Polish borders, they can leave to the Ukrainian-Polish borders as the Polish authorities allow entry to all nationalities and grant them a 15-day visa to return to their homeland.
 
Regarding the citizens who are in central and southern Ukraine, they have to remain at home until the situation calms down, the embassy said.
 
The embassy also said that citizens in the western cities in Ukraine can head for the Ukrainian-Romanian borders after opening the border crossing due to the huge crowds of people from different nationalities at the Polish-Ukrainian borders. The embassy put a phone number (40726164978) as the citizens can contact the Egyptian embassy in Romania in an anticipation of any possible problems.
 
Also, those who are in the Ukrainian city of Odesa to head for the Romanian border and then return home. Meanwhile, it posted the phone number of the Egyptian embassy in Poland for those who could find trouble at the Polish-Ukrainian borders.
 
The situation escalates between Ukraine and Russia, as the latter launches a full-scale attack on Kyiv on Wednesday evening.
