CAIRO – 17 February 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held talks, Thursday with Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez on the sidelines of the European Union-African Union Summit.
Sisi also meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the fringe of his participation in the 6th EU-AU Summit.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said President Sisi praised the distinguished relations binding Egypt and Greece as well as the tangible progress in the two countries' relations in all fields along with the distinguished level of political coordination between them regarding issues of mutual interest.
Sisi voiced his appreciation of Greece's stances towards Egypt whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the European Union, a matter which reflected the strength of the historical relations linking the two countries, the spokesman added.
The Greek premier, for his part, asserted the privacy of the historical and close ties binding the two countries, welcoming the notable progress achieved in their bilateral relations over the past years.
He also voiced his country's keenness on continuing to deepen its cooperation with Egypt to reach to broader horizons in the various fields especially in light of Egypt's prominent role in enhancing the mechanism for joint action in the face of any crises and challenges besetting the Mediterranean region, which he viewed as a model to be followed in maintaining stability and pushing forward the economic, social and developmental conditions at the regional level.
The spokesman also added that Sisi’s talks with the Greek premier covered means of buttressing bilateral relations at all fronts as well as a set of regional and international files of mutual interest
