CAIRO – 17 February 2022: A total of 835,270 people has received booster shots in Egypt, the Ministry of Health said, as Egypt started administering a third coronavirus vaccine shot in December.

As many as 29,305,504 people were fully vaccinated so far, the ministry said, adding that 38,839,210 people received their first coronavirus vaccine shot.

The ministry has explained to people the steps to follow if they contract coronavirus.

- If you feel the usual symptoms of coronavirus, you should go to the hospital immediately, specifically the chest diseases clinic or the emergency department in a hospital affiliated with the Health Ministry.

*Note: The symptoms include difficulty breathing, a decrease in the percentage of oxygen in the blood below 92%, difficulty breathing, altered consciousness, and continuous fever, the ministry says.

- When contracting coronavirus, you should self-isolate for 5 to 7 days.

- Send an SMS to 1440, the ministry’s hotline for house quarantine cases.

- Take a good amount of rest and sleep.

- You should drink plenty of fluids.

- Take medicines that reduce temperature and painkillers when necessary.

Note: Recovery from coronavirus happens when symptoms disappear, the ministry says. However, people are able to transmit the infection to others only within 5 to 7 days, provided that the high temperature disappears even if the cough and cold persist.
