CAIRO -13 February 2022: In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed to strengthen cooperation with international development partners in issues pertaining to environment and green transformation, including the state's national project to advance lakes across the country and preserve their biodiversity, said Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady in a statement on Sunday.

President Sisi followed-up on the state's strategy for cooperation with international partners in various national development projects, Rady added.

The President also directed to optimize development cooperation to support the state’s efforts in achieving comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, enhancing competitiveness and stimulating the role of the private sector in increasing growth rates. This is in addition to strengthening the state’s efforts to invest in infrastructure and human capital through the Decent Life Initiative, while simultaneously continuing to increase developmental successes in those sectors, through various international platforms.

Al-Mashat reviewed the most prominent efforts of development cooperation with international partners to mobilize all forms of support necessary for the major development projects underway in various sectors in Egypt. This takes place through development cooperation strategies that were prepared with the participation of all concerned parties including the government, the private sector and civil society, taking into consideration that the state’s priorities are in line with the government’s “Egypt Takes Off” program, the national strategy for human rights and various related presidential initiatives, especially the Decent Life Initiative.

The most prominent of these strategies include the new cooperation strategy with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) until 2027. This is in addition to the strategic framework of the partnership with the United Nations to achieve sustainable development, as well as efforts to maximize cooperation with the European Union and strengthen partnership with the European Investment Bank.

The Minister of International Cooperation presented the main outcomes of the Egypt Forum for International Cooperation and Development Finance, which was held under the auspices of the President in Cairo in September 2021.  The forum’s closing statement emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cooperation among countries of the South, developing the youth’s abilities in entrepreneurship and technology, as well as the participation of the private sector in development.

The President was also briefed on the latest developments pertinent to the execution of a number of development projects and finances across the country, which seek to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic and social development, particularly climate change projects and support for the Decent Life Initiative.
