CAIRO - 12 February 2022: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday received the German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on her first visit to Egypt, which comes in the framework of continuing advancing bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany, and discussing issues of common concern, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez.
According to her agenda in Egypt, Baerbock would discuss cooperation in preparation for COP 27 conference due to convene in Sharm El Sheikh In November 2022.
Baerbock plans to discuss Egyptian-German relations and important regional issues that involve Egypt and Germany, according to a statement from the German embassy n Cairo on Monday.
German FM’s visit to Egypt comes amid the ongoing Ukraine-Russia crisis as Europe fears possibly cutting off natural gas supply; Egypt is right now seen as a possible key supplier of natural gas to Europe.
