CAIRO - 8 February 2022: The Health Ministry said Monday night that 2,272 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country to 441,923.


In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said 57 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 22,993.

As many as 2,147 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 374,479 so far, the spokesman said.

The recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals reached  84,6 percent, said the Ministry of Health in a statement on Monday.

“So far, the US has delivered more than 21 million high-quality U.S. vaccine doses that will help protect the people of Egypt from coronavirus,” said the US embassy in Cairo.
 
On 16 January 2022, Egypt received 3 million doses of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine, provided by the US, through COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance.
