Egypt’s FM heads for Addis Ababa to participate in 35th ordinary session of AU Assembly

CAIRO- 5 February 2022: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry headed on Friday evening for Addis Ababa to represent Egypt in the meetings of the 35th ordinary session of the AU Assembly (Heads of State and Government Session) to be held on February 5-6, 2022, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday.
 
The summit will address various issues and themes on the continental scene, including the state of peace and security in the continent and facing the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change phenomena, as well as economic and continental integration, the statement said.
 
Meetings for Foreign Minister are also scheduled on the sidelines of his participation in the summit with a number of his African counterparts, in order to discuss aspects of cooperation and means to bolster bilateral relations, in addition to exchanging views on issues of mutual concern, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez.
