CAIRO – 24 January 2022: The Egyptian authorities on Monday resumed operating Rafah border crossing on both sides, upon the directives of the political leadership to facilitate the crossing of stranded Palestinians and the entry of aid and construction materials to the Gaza Strip.

The resumption of the crossing came upon directives of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to facilitate the movement of Palestinian people stranded at the crossing.

The General Authority for Crossings and Borders in Gaza called on the traveling citizens to update their data of the newly issued passports during the year 2020.

The Rafah crossing has been opened for the past seven months since operating on May 16, 2021 to facilitate the crossing of wounded, injured and humanitarian cases, and allow entry of medical aid and reconstruction materials to Palestinians.
