CAIRO – 10 January 2022: Egypt’s First Lady Entissar Amer said the fourth edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF), which kicked off on Monday, reflects the youth’s capability to challenge all obstacles.

“I feel a mixture of happiness and pride due to the return of the world youth to meet and exchange visions and experiences during the fourth edition of the World Youth Forum,” Amer said in a Facebook post.

She added that the WYF is an “international platform to discuss challenges and issues that face the world today”.

Amer wished success for the participants and the organizing committee, hoping that the forum “remains always a bridge for convergence and a model of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of the other.”

The fourth edition of the forum kicked off on Monday with the participation of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Lebanon’s Prime Minster Najib Mikati, Crown Prince of Jordan Hussein bin Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The forum was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

The forum is held under the slogan of ‘Back Together’, with the participation of young people from 196 countries in Sharm El-Sheikh. WYF activities are expected to take place until January 13.

2021’s WYF agenda includes number of vital topics, which reflect the features of the new reality after Coronavirus pandemic, that affected the lives of millions all over the world.

Participants at the 4th edition of WYF have the choice to participate either physically or remotely via the virtual system due to COVID-19.

Several presidents and key figures have delivered speeches in person or virtually during today’s sessions, which have been attended by Sisi.

Speaking during the WYF, Sisi said that Egypt was one of the few countries around the word that achieved a growth rate amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.

Sisi noted that both of the tourism and aviation sectors in Egypt have been greatly affected by COVID-19; however, the government took steps to compensate the affected sectors.
